Oorlogsgravenstichting

    The carpenter Antoon Martens was arrested a few days before the liberation of Leunen (Venray municipality) with 39 other men and deported to Germany as a slave.
    He was deported to Friedrichshafen, Germany, on October 17, 1944.
    Date of death: 23 Jan. 1945, roman-catholic hospital in Hüls.
    War injury: suffered blood poisoning through his work.

    Hüls is now a district of Krefeld. [1.3]
    It is not mentioned whether he contracted this blood poisoning in Krefeld or already in Friedrichshafen. These two cities are about 600 km apart.
