The fallen resistance people in Limburg
Where was Piet van Hal born? In his file at the Oorlogsgravenstichting (Dutch war graves foundation), his place of birth is listed as Bunde. So the OGS made inquiries in the Limburg municipality of Bunde. [1]
An answer cannot be found in the file. Is that the reason, why by the Oorlogsgravenstichting [5] the German village Bunde in East-Friesland is given as place of birth: Bunde, D? [2]
Under his picture in Het Grote Gebod we read: Also: LO-Gent. [3]
Van Hommerich meant the village of Gendt, about 10 kilometers northeast of Nijmegen. [2]
For the Belgian city of Ghent, of course, had no Dutch LO and was also too far away.
He was arrested on November 18, 1943, probably by treason. [3]
He was one of the pioneers of LO-Elst and belonged to a group composed of municipal officials.
Read more about this group in the story about Elst.

Petrus Paulus ( Piet ) van Hal is listed in the Erelijst 1940-1945 (Honor Roll of the Dutch Parliament). [4]
