The municipality of Herten wrote about him to the OGS after the war:
Political reliability: favorable. Shot by the Germans because he went into hiding during the evacuation.

The death certificate gives the date of death as March 3, 1945 (date on which his death was confirmed).
In reality, the concerned person was shot on 12 Feb 1945. [1#4]
