The fallen resistance people in Limburg
Daniel Smit worked at the construction company Kondor. [3]
He was arrested in September 1941 and spent about eight months in the Oranjehotel before being taken to Maastricht, sentenced to death there, and murdered in the Sachsenhausen concentration camp, we read in the Book of the Dead of the Oranjehotel. That is also the source of his image [4]. The place of his execution was not yet known. [1]
The Red Cross has determined that he and his fellow convicts were transported to the Sachsenhausen concentration camp on May 9, 1942, and executed there. Source: Page 6 of his file at the Oorlogsgravenstichting (War Graves Commission) in the Nationaal Archief [2].
