Sjeng Bisschoff
(Johannes Mathias Willem)

 24-08-1922 Simpelveld      23-04-1945 Buchenwald (22)
- Simpelveld - Aid to People in Hiding L.O. -

Het Grote Gebod – L.O.

Sjeng Bisschoff was arrested on July 21, 1944 by the infiltrator Lambertz, a German non-commissioned officer, as he was about to drive him to a diving address in Vaals, because Lambertz had said to want to go into hiding. In this Slap of Wittem [1] on July 21, 1944, 10 people from LO Gulpen district were arrested. Seven of them did not survive the German concentration camps, including Sjeng Bisschoff. Although he could enjoy his liberation, he died two weeks later because of the privations he had suffered. [2]
No grave is known of him; he was probably buried quickly in a mass grave at Buchenwald because of the great danger of infectious diseases. [3]
Johannes Mathias Willem ( Sjeng ) Bisschoff is listed in the Erelijst 1940-1945 (Honor Roll of the Dutch Parliament). [5]
