Henk Hovens was a dispatch Manager. He was born in Venlo and moved to Tegelen-Steyl in May 1943. He helped downed Allies (usually called pilots for simplicity’s sake) on their way home. He was arrested and was taken to Buchenwald concentration camp via Dachau. He returned to Steyl after his liberation, but died there on April 30, 1947, from the hardships he had suffered in Buchenwald. [1][6]
Cammaert writes about him: H.J.A. Hovens from Tegelen succumbed to the hardships suffered in Buchenwald on April 10, 1947. [2]
In the story about Henk Hovens on the OGS website [6], April 30, 1947 is given as the date of his death. That would be from the book by Willem Kurstjens. [1]
But in his file at the OGS [3#2] and on de website Dodenboek Venlo [4], April 10, 1947 is also mentioned.
His name is on the war memorial at the Raadhuislaan in Tegelen. [5]

Reburied on the National Field of Honor in Loenen, grave D-393. [3#7][4][6]
