Four young men from Valkenburg did not have German citizenship, but joined the German army voluntarily.The miner Joseph Lodewijk Heijnens (*1905), who formerly lived on Cremerstraat, died on July 7, 1945, when the war was already over. He was buried in the military cemetery in Lüneburg, south-east of Hamburg. [1.2]
