The fallen resistance people in Limburg
Hubertus Hendrikus Ritzen was arrested on August 16, 1944, and arrived at the Neuengamme concentration camp near Hamburg on September 10, 1944, via the Amersfoort police transit camp. [1]
He finally died on May 3, 1945 in the Bay of Lübeck in the catastrophe of the ships Cap Arcona, Thielbek and Athen. [2.1][2.2][3]
Numerous websites and monuments commemorate this, e.g. [4] and [5].
Was Hubertus Hendrikus Ritzen active in the resistance? And if so, what was he doing there, with which resistance group? Was he in hiding? Did he perhaps end up in Germany as a forced laborer?
