The fallen resistance people in Limburg
Cornelis van den Broek was a corporal of the Marines in Den Helder [1][4] until the surrender of the Dutch forces in May 1940. During the war he worked as Opperwachtmeester at the police in Rotterdam at the Hoflaan. He belonged to the KP (Knokploeg, armed group) in Rotterdam. On oorlogsgravenstichting.nl we read about him [6]:
On February 28, 1945, after being betrayed by a police officer, he was arrested by the Germans and imprisoned in Scheveningen prison. During World War II, this building was used for trials and executions and was nicknamed the "Orange Hotel." After an attack on a member of the security police and one of the Dutch SS on March 5, 1945, Cornelis van den Broek was executed on the Pleinweg in Rotterdam on March 12, 1945 in retaliation. His name is on the war memorial [2] on the Pleinweg.
