The fallen resistance people in Limburg
Father Christofoor was a member of the Congregation of the Sacred Hearts [1] (ss.cc.). He lived in the cloister on the Cauberg in Valkenburg. After vicar Jac. Naus had to go into hiding, he became his successor at St. Martinus Church in Venlo on October 30, 1942 [3]
He was arrested on May 1, 1944, and imprisoned in Maastricht. On June 8, 1944, to Herzogenbusch concentration camp (Dutch: Kamp Vught). [4]
On September 6 to Sachsenhausen in Oranienburg. On February 6, 1945 to Bergen-Belsen. He is mentioned on the monument De Gevallen Mens in Asten. [5]
Three priests of the catholic Martinus Church paid for their resistance with their lives. On the memorial plaque at this church [6] we find their names and also that of the Protestant priest Henk de Jong.
