Bocholtz is a village in South Limburg on the German border. During the German occupation there was therefore a lot of illegal border traffic. The resistance work done there was initially individual help for people fleeing from the Nazis. From 1943, this work was coordinated by the L.O., the largest aid organization for people in hiding. Within the LO, Bocholtz belonged to the Simpelveld sub-district and thus to the district of Gulpen.
